Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday expressed his wishes on Marathi Divas, while recalling his late father’s efforts in spreading the spirit of the Marathi language.
Tendulkar’s message on the auspicious day came on his official Facebook page, which read, “Today as we celebrate Marathi Divas, its a special day as it reminds me of the humble efforts of my father in spreading the spirit of the Marathi language. A poet and a Professor, he taught people of diverse faiths the language.” (sic)
“Many non-Maharshtrians reciprocated their love with several heartfelt letters written to him in Marathi. Here is wishing all Indians a very happy Marathi Divas,” Tendulkar wrote (sic).
Meanwhile, veteran batsman Tendulkar jumped three places to be 17th in the batsmen's chart announced on Wednesday, PTI reported.
As their big win against the Australians, Team India rose to the fourth spot in the ICC Test Rankings.
