Galle: Mar 8, 2013
Kumar Sangakkara scored his 31st Test ton as Sri Lanka sailed to 247 for the loss of two wickets at Tea on Day one of the Galle Test against Bangladesh on Friday.
Resuming their innings on 132 runs after lunch, Sangakkara and Dimuth Karunaratne continued to score at a healthy rate. The partnership of 67 runs was broken by Sohag Gazi who removed the opener by trapping him LBW. Karunaratne scored 41 runs.
Lahiru Thirimanne joined Sangakkara and the duo steadied the innings and set up another unbeaten partnership of 66 runs at Tea.
If one goes by the first two sessions it seems the islanders are going to dominate all along. A bit early to predict results but the lack of fight and intent from the Bangladesh side is evident from the way they have bowled against a formidable batting line up.
Brief Scores: Sri Lanka 247 for 2 (Kumar Sangakkara 104*, Tillakaratne Dilshan 54; Sohag Gazi 2 for 71) vs Bangladesh
