Bowlers led South Africa's fightback as they restrict England to 326 for seven at lunch on the second day of the opening Test at the Kennington Oval on Friday.

Resuming at 267 for three, England batsmen stuttered against a disciplined attack led by Dale Steyn, who bagged two key wickets of Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara in quick succession.

Steyn first got rid of Cook, dismissing him on 115 which came from 295 balls, 11 boundaries and a six.

The right-arm pacer then provided South Africa the much-needed momentum when he had Bopara caught behind the wickets by AB de Villiers for a duck, off a bouncer.

England skidded further when Ian Bell fell for 13, adding just two runs to his overnight tally of 11.

Tim Bresnan managed eight runs from 32 deliveries he faced.

Brief Scores: England 326 for 7 (Alastair Cook 115, Jonathan Trott 71; Jacques Kallis 2 for 38, Morne Morkel 2 for 68) vs South Africa
