Three years ago, Vidarbha pacer Umesh Yadav gave up plans to become a police constable to concentrate on cricket.
He fell three marks short in the exam for the Nagpur police.
Yadav, who clocked a fatest of 150.1 kmph, was always encouraged by his father. Earlier this year, his mother, Kishori Devi passed. The youngest of the family is closest to his father.
“I call him every alternate day... Aaj bhi baat karoon ga,” was quoted in The Telegraph.
Umesh found himself surrounded by Australian fans.
Edwina Scott, Laura Zalcman, Amy Hessalland, Chris Hurley who are guests in the same hotel where Team India is staying, insisted on being photographed with Umesh Yadav.
“Well done, very well done.”
He was left overwhelmed to see even Australians congratulating him.
On being asked what would had happened if he had cleared the exam, the pacer who took three wickets in the first innings said, “Maloom nahin aaj kahan hote... Just don’t know.”
