India’s promising young batsman Virat Kohli has smashed a valiant hundred in the second warm-up match against the Cricket Australia’s Chairman’s XI.

Kohli scored his hundred in the first session of day two of the practice match off 139 balls. Earlier he lost his partner Rohit Sharma who shared a 101-run partnership with the centurion.

Virat’s century comes at a right time ahead of the Boxing Day Test which might help him to cement his place in the Test team with position No 6 being a vacant spot thus far.

The hundred would be a confidence-booster for the youngster as this is his first tour Dowen Under, and also it came at a time when wickets were tumbling from the other end.

Also a poor run-of-form in his last away Test series in the Caribbean had raised questions on his ability to play on pacer-firendly tracks. Certainly this hundred would restore confidence within the selectors about his ability to play on fast bowler-friendly pitches.
