India’s middle-order batsman Virat Kohli on Thursday scored his maiden Test century during the fourth Test match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, and helped his side stage a fightback after an early slump.
Kohli completed his century off 199 balls and struck eight boundaries and a six during his innings.
He added 114 runs for the sixth wicket with Wriddhiman Saha to bail his side out of trouble when they were left reeling at 122 for five with the quick dismissals of Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.
Before this innings, Kohli had scored 353 runs in seven Test matches at an average of 27.15.
