Indore: Dec 8, 2011
Indian opener Virender Sehwag scored the highest individual score in one-day Internationals breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record in the fourth ODI against the West Indies at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Sehwag also became the only cricketer after Tendulkar to score a double-century in one-day cricket off 140 balls
The dashing opening batsman made his record double century in 140 balls with the help of 23 fours and six sixes at the jam-packed Holkar Stadium.
He reached the feat when he square-cut Andre Russell for a boundary in the 44th over of the Indian innings, setting off wild celebrations in the stands and dressing room.
Sehwag also improved his record for highest score, as the previous was 175 against Bangladesh in Mirpur on February 19, in the ICC 2011 World Cup opening game.
In February 2010, Tendulkar became the first-ever cricketer to score a double ton in ODIs when he scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa at Gwalior.
