Cuttack: May 1, 2012

Captain Kumar Sangakkara along with with Cameron White put on 157 run-partnership to power Deccan Chargers (DC) to a challenging total of 186 runs against the Pune Warriors India (PWI) in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Cuttack.

Deccan got off to a disastrous start as opener Parthiv Patel was dismissed off the first ball of the innings as the home team decided to bat first after winning the toss.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave another blow to Deccan as he got rid of Shikhar Dhawan whose stumps were rattled in the fifth over. He made only 13 runs.

Pune bowlers bowled economically and were well supported by the fielders. But Sangakkara along with White consolidated home team’s innings as they put on a 157-run partnership for the third wicket.

They stepped on the accelerator in last five overs to propel the team to a competitive total. Sangakkara top scored with 82 runs while White scored 74 runs as both players were dismissed in the last two overs.

Brief Score: DC 186 for 4 in 20 overs (Kumar Sangakkara 82, Cameron White74; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1 for 22) vs PWI
