Yuvraj Singh, who was included in the Indian team for the World Twenty 20 Championship in Sri Lanka as well as the two T20s against New Zealand in September, said he felt elated and emotional after the news reached him.
"It's an emotional moment for me," said the dashing batsman.
"I'm feeling elated. It's always been a dream to play for India and I am grateful to the BCCI and the selectors for reposing their faith in my ability once again.
"The day I was diagnosed with cancer, I told myself that I am going to make a comeback into the Indian team. It's a huge victory for me and my family, especially my mother who has been a pillar of strength. I am going to celebrate this day with my family and friends. I have also got some phone calls from my teammates. It feels really great,” Yuvraj was quoted saying by Times of India.
The left-handed batsman said India have a good chance of making the semifinals.
"On paper, we are a very strong team and I don't see any reason why we can't make it to the top four. But there are some good teams like Australia, England, South Africa and hosts Sri Lanka.
"There was never a problem with my batting but with some hard training my stamina has improved a lot. I'm again heading back to NCA and will spend another two weeks to prepare hard for the T20 matches."
