Test discard Zaheer Khan is just five wickets short of becoming the fourth Indian bowler to pick up 300 wickets in Tests.
ICC’s official twitter handle tweeted on Monday, saying, “Zaheer Khan needs five wickets to become the fourth Indian to take 300 Test wickets #mondaymilestones”
Zaheer was dropped from the Indian side after the a shocking defeat to England in the four-match Test series, with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shami Ahmed getting an opportunity to play for India.
Zaheer went back to playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy but injured himself and missed out from playing in Mumbai’s title-clinching final against Saurashtra.
The selectors have now left him out of the first two Tests in favour of adding youngsters to the squad.
Zaheer has picked up 295 wickets in 88 Test matches at an average of 32.35 and will hope to get back into the side and go past the 300-mark.
