Shaun Marsh backed Australia to defeat England in the one-day (ODI) series which begins on Friday.
England need a 5-0 series whitewash to displace Australia at the top of the ODI world rankings.
“Australia will definitely win,” said Marsh.
“It is going to be close and tough and always huge when Australia play England, especially over here.
“England is a tough place to play and this is a challenging series of one-dayers.
“But Australia are ranked number one in the world for one-day cricket for a reason and if we play well enough we will win.
“Australia have developed so well over the last 12 months and they have got a good mixture of young and experienced players.”
Marsh believes pacers Pat Cummings and James Pattinson will revel in English conditions.
“The English cricketing public are going to see two young world-class players coming through in James Pattinson and Patrick Cummings,” added Marsh.
“By this time next year when the Ashes are starting they will be a pretty fearsome attack.
“I would say to English cricket fans to keep an eye on them because they are a pretty impressive pair.”
The Glamorgan batsman believes the absence of Kevin Pietersen, who has announced his international retirement from one-day cricket, will boost Australia.
“Australia will be happy they are not facing Kevin Pietersen, but it is a shame for the sport he is not playing,” added Marsh.
“He is a world-class player and one of the best batsmen in the world as we speak.
“He was fantastic in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and it was a privilege to watch him bat.
“We have known for a long time how good he is and what he can do.
“But England are still a very dangerous team with some fantastic batters that can take his spot,” Marsh was quoted saying by walesonline.co.uk.
