Former skipper and all-rounder Shahid Afridi believes India – Pakistan series is more popular than Ashes series.
“The series between Pakistan and India is more popular than the Ashes series between Australia and England,” Afridi said.
The Pakistan players were delighted after it was announced by BCCI that they will be playing three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20s in India in December this year.
“The matches between Pakistan and India are widely followed and people throughout the world are greatly interested in their matches,” Afridi emphasized.
“The pressure is great when we play against India but it also more thrilling.”
The last time Pakistan toured India was in 2007. After the 26/11 Mumbai blast in 2008, all bilateral cricketing ties were cut off.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq said it will be a great entertainment for people of both the countries.
“It will be a great a spectacle for the cricket fans when the two sides face each other,” Misbah was quoted as saying in the www.thenews.com.pk.
