American singer Katy Perry, who was the star performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ‘Opening Nite’ show before the start of the fifth edition of the T20 league, is facing court for making an "obscene" on stage gesture.
The singer then asked Bollinger to show her how to hold a bat, and during the act, he stood around Katy, wrapped his arms round her and she held the microphone, he put his hands on hers and lowered the microphone to her groin.
According to a report from The Sun, a bid to prosecute Katy for lewdness is being pursued by the High Court in Madras.
A lawyer has claimed in his complaint that the pose was "obscene and lascivious - appealing to prurient interest". The lawyer further added that their pose "distracted students who were writing exams at the time".
However, Katy and Doug haven’t been formally charged and will not have to appear in court.
A few days ago, the High Court Madras ordered notice to Indian cricket board chief N Srinivasan, American pop star Katy, Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor on a petition regarding alleged "uncensored and indecent" dance programmes during the IPL-V inaugural show in Chennai in April.
