The ECB is right?

Faisal Caesar, August 12, 2012, 10:30 pm
A boss of an institution should be like a father. And it’s his duty to ensure his beloved employees’ utmost security and comfort zone. He should be as caring as a father. No institutions are without egotistical personalities. A boss’ biggest challenge comes while handling such colorful personalities. A smart boss operates his egotistic employees with enough intelligence to produce the best of results.

The bosses of a cricket board should be like that. A cricketer’s best comfort zone depends on how the chiefs of a board are handling everything. Cricket is not without egotistical stars. In each decades the green canvas of cricket has observed wonderfully gifted cricketers whose egos ran high. A smart captain and

Test cricket needs Kevin Pietersen

Faisal Caesar, August 7, 2012, 10:06 pm
After tea, on the third day of the second Test match between England and South Africa the atmosphere at Leeds became electrifying. A batsman, who was restrained till then, suddenly broke free to punish one of the lethal bowling attacks in Test cricket of the modern era with one of the finest displays of self-belief. It was extraordinary, it was brilliant and it was jaw- dropping. Kevin Pietersen’s mind was not cluttered by his standoff with the ECB officials, but instead he scripted a magical knock to leave everyone spell bound.

There was still something for the bowlers in that Leeds track. But it became an irrelevance. Since he was being reprieved, KP thought himself invincible and unleashed a brutal assault. He stood

Test cricket is so boring?

Faisal Caesar, July 29, 2012, 2:40 pm
‘Test cricket is dying,’ ‘Test cricket is boring’ are conceptions that is looming large in the minds of the modern generation of cricket lovers who are more prone towards cricket’s latest innovative sibling T20 cricket. No doubt that the addition of T20 cricket has given cricket a new dimension. But still, the kind of thrill and romance Test cricket provides the T20 format can’t even dare to match them.

Last week, at the Oval, the world witnessed an exhibition of power cricket by the South African batsmen and bowlers on the white and green canvas of Test cricket. Since the Proteas came back to the game after a frustrating first day they dominated over a lackluster English attack in such a manner that Test

Thats' bowler Afridi for you

Faisal Caesar, March 5, 2011, 8:32 pm
The Pathan was in the team in the four nation tournament at Nairobi in 1996 as a replacement of Mushtaq Ahmed. In his second ODI he turned the world upside down with a jaw dropping 100 off 37 balls! The bowler’s tag was replaced by the batsman’s tag. Since then the ladies heart throbbing Pakistani boy, Shahid Khan Afridi was a hard hitting run machine, batting high up the order who could roll his arm over when needed.

But as the time progressed the Pathan’s batting form slumped but his bowling got better and better. In recent times, since being made the Pakistan captain, the poster boy Afridi’s bowling has been a joy to watch. He takes wickets when needed and he is in the habit of picking the scalps of the big guns.

What a way to challenge the ICC’s decision to get rid of the ICC Associate members 4 years later! And also it was a fantastic way to punch those who were after the heads of the Associate teams. I belong to those who were against the Associate member’s participation. I questioned their abilities. But I had my logic too as so far their performance had been shoddy and never, ever had they looked to put shiver down the big guns spine. Though the Dutch jolted the English but after that the Dutch were all but hopeless and the likes of Canada, Kenya and Zimbabwe never looked that threatening to challenge the might of the Test teams.

But I just forget one thing: cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty. You never know how

Haider the Pakistan cricket's weed

Faisal Caesar, February 28, 2011, 5:15 pm
Was it necessary to speak in front of the media now? Was it necessary to drag out controversy out of no where? Was it necessary to spoil the party mood of the cricket fans? Was it necessary to invite troubles for a team which had enough over the last 6 months? Such are the questions which are coming to my mind after coming to know about the ex-Pakistan wicket-keeper, Zulqarnain Haider’s latest saga, who has decided to reveal the name of the corrupted Pakistan players before the World Cup.

To me he is Pakistan cricket’s weed like Sarfraz Nawaz, Aamer Sohail and Rashid Latif who were always were up to spoil the Pakistan cricket. If Zulqarnain knows who are the corrupt players then why didn’t he do it when he fled Dubai

Ashraful and Nafees not in Siddeons' battle plan

Faisal Caesar, March 1, 2011, 2:06 pm
On Thursday February the 10th, 2011 at the Tigers training session it was seen that Shahriar Nafees and Mohamamd Ashraful were given a chance to bat after all the other batters had finished their practice session. Most of the bowlers were tired and in the end these two talented batsmen practiced against the second string net bowlers and not against the front line bowlers.

It’s a daily scene. The Tigers’ coach Jammie Siddeons has no space for the back up players. According to Siddeons Ashraful and Nafees are back up players and they will only get a chance if either any of the front line batters don’t perform according to Siddeons’ expectations. Nafees can play if either Junaid or Imrul flops or Ash can only seek a

The engineer of the new India

Faisal Caesar, February 28, 2011, 3:49 pm
He was dubbed as the bad boy of cricket as he opened his T-shirt at the Lord’s balcony in delight after slapping the Poms in the Natwest series finals. He just gave Flintoff the answer what he did in Mumbai 6 months ago. He was criticized but Flintoff wasn’t. To me Dada did it right. You have to give the answer on the face if you are to survive the toughness of international cricket. Ganguly with that gesture gave a message to the world that India doesn’t meawo anymore but they can slap on anybody’s face.

For more than a decade team India were hero at home and were raped badly abroad. The dawn of the last decade though marred by match-fixing controversies but it also saw the change of a team under the astute

Tragic death of Trevor Bailey

Faisal Caesar, February 27, 2011, 3:03 am
He was difficult to get rid of if he was all set at the wicket. In 1953 at Lords in a long partnership of 4 and half hours with Willy Watson, Trevor Bailey saved the Test match and it was instrumental in regaining the Ashes. Trevor Bailey was almost cursing to make a century in real life. But the former English all-rounder lost to death

His death was tragic and the culprit being the fire who burned his body. His dead body was discovered amidst of thick smoke from his kitchen at the Essex residence. Though his wife could be saved but Bailey could not escape death.

Bailey played for England from 1949-1959 and has played 61 Tests. He was a right hand batsman and a right hand medium pacer. He has scored 2290 runs at an

For the cricket romantics the under dog tag for the West Indies is something not acceptable. But the Windies themselves has tagged them as the under dogs then you have agree with that.

Once the West Indies ruled the cricket world with iron hands but at present they are just the shadow of the past. The two times World Champions has lost all its charm and glamour in course of time.

But Chris Gayle sounds confident. According to him, though they are the under dogs but that doesn’t mean they have lost battle before fighting it. They can make the heavy weights feel dizzy and trounce them in style. Their first target is to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The West Indian fans are thirsty for success and the Gayle and co wants

Ponting will play despite the pain

Faisal Caesar, February 28, 2011, 9:28 am
Since 1996 the Aussies ahs been playing all the World Cup finals and Ponting has been a part of all of them. And two times he had been the captain of the side. The World Cup without Ponting will lose its colour.

In the Perth Test of the Ashes, Ponting hurt his left hand’s little finger and immediately he under went surgery keeping the World Cup in mind. He returned to training last week after a proper rehabilitation program. But there are still doubts whether Ponting would be able to be getting complete fitness before the World Cup. And even if he gets fit, will the long absence from cricket affect his batting?

The iron willed Ponting strongly believes that it will not affect his normal game. Before leaving for India on

Afridi dreams of the Indo-Pak final

Faisal Caesar, February 28, 2011, 2:50 pm
Just think of a picture. On the 2nd April, 2011 at Mumbai the stadium is jam-packed. On the final of the greatest stage of cricket Shahid Afridi and M S Dhoni has come out for the toss. It’s an India vs Pakistan final and for the Pakistani captain it’s not only a dream but also a great achievement.

According to Afridi there is a possibility of an India vs Pakistan final and if that happens then it will a great thing for ODI cricket and World Cup cricket. Both India and Pakistan are in different groups. If everything thing goes according to the plan for these two neighbours then there is a possibility of an Indo-Pak final and if that happens then it will a matter of tremendous enthusiasm for the billions of cricket
