IPL 2012 video highlights: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Pune Warriors India Part 2

Robin Uthappa top-scored with 70 as Pune Warriors India (PWI) reached 182 for six in 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Opening batsman Uthappa smashed 70 while Jesse Ryder and Marlon Samuels scored 34 each. Local boy Vinay Kumar picked up two for 34.

Uthappa had a reprieve when he tried to sweep left-arm spinner KP Appanna and TV replays showed that ball jumped off his gloves to be caught by AB de Villiers. The umpire however gave him not out and the next ball was dispatched into the deep mid-wicket stand.

Chennai Super Kings set a target of 156 against Pune Warriors in their Indian Premier League match at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune on Saturday.

Opener Faf du Plessis made 43 while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja struck 44. Rahul Sharma took two wickets for Pune.

Jadeja took centrestage after opener Faf du Plessis slammed 43 off just 33 balls to set the tone for the visitors at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni contributed 26 off 28 balls while Suresh Raina struck 20 off 19.

Opting to bat, Chennai were off to a flyer as du Plessis went hammer and tongs, especially against left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra.

In all, du Plessis hit five fours and two sixes, while Jadeja slammed four

1978 film Khatta Meetha was directed by Basu Chatterjee. The film stars Ashok Kumar, Rakesh Roshan, Bindiya Goswami, Pearl Padamsee, David Abraham Cheulkar, Ranjit Chowdhry, Preeti Ganguly, Deven Verma, Pradeep Kumar and Iftekhar.

The music of the film was given by the famous Rajesh Roshan.

The film's plot is loosely based on Yours, Mine and Ours (1968), starring Lucille Ball, Henry Fonda and Van Johnson.

IPL 2012 opening ceremony failed to impress

Whoever watched the Indian premier Leageu (IPL) 2012 opening ceremony on Tuesday woulad agree that the ceremony failed to match the hype created earlier by media.

Although there was no dearth of star power with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Prabhudeva attending the opening nite, it still drew a lacklustre response from the nearly 15,000 spectators who had gathered at the YMCA College of Physical Education here.

Even the attempts by the hosts to cheer up the crowd failed to enthuse the audience who were subjected to a typical Bollywood style entertainment but without much verve and spirit.

New Zealand’s young cricketer Kane Williamson struck his only second century of his career in the third and final Test against South Africa to help his side force a draw against the dominant South African side in Wellington.

Williamson, batting at four in place of the injured skipper Ross Taylor, survived a painful strike in the groin and at least four edges behind the stumps including a low catch claimed by Alviro Petersen at point.

The 21-year-old right-handed batsman spent 327 minutes at the crease and faces 228 balls for his knock of 102, which included nine boundaries.

Barmy Army fuming over costly ticket pricing

England cricket loyalists, popularly known as the ‘Barmy Army’ are fuming over the expensive ticket pricing in the ongoing Test series in Sri Lanka.

England take on Sri Lanka in the first of the two Test match series on Monday. The ticket pricing is set at $ 50 per day.

But the England fans are angry with the fact that the prices are different for the local fans and that for the visitors.

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said ticket prices were fixed to take advantage of the high demand.

Ranatunga maintained there are no price differences for locals and foreigners and everyone must pay $50 or $75 for a day’s ticket.

Elated after scoring hundredth ton, Sachin Tendulkar said though it was mentally tough for him to reach the much talked-about milestone, it was dream come true.

An ecstatic Tendulkar said in an interview, "It hasn't sunk in but I have definitely lost about 50kg," the iconic batsman joked when asked whether the feeling has sunk after getting to a milestone that may never be emulated.

"Obviously I can't think anything at this stage. It has been a tough phase for me. Especially tough as I was doing reasonably well in Australia but felt that at times was a little luckless," he added.

Days after the Chennai Rhinos won the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), Kollywood director Seenuramasamy has expressed his unhappiness with the tournament.

Apparently, the director has cast Vishnu, a key player in the Chennai side, as the lead hero in his next fim, Neer Paravai. However, the actor suffered a serious injury in the final while batting, which is likely to keep him out of action for the next six weeks. This means the director will have to delay the film’s shooting.

Birla Sun Life Insurance has been featuring controversial commercial of ailing cricketer Yuvraj Singh which portrays the ups and downs of flamboyant cricketer’s life.

But the Indian fans seemed to be unhappy with the commercial stating that Birla Sun Life wants to pocket more business by the ad.

According to The Indian Express, it was the star cricketer who wanted to feature his life’s ups and downs in the ad. He even went to the extent of replacing the word “injury” with “health problems”.
