MI vs RR 20:00 IST

On Thursday February the 10th, 2011 at the Tigers training session it was seen that Shahriar Nafees and Mohamamd Ashraful were given a chance to bat after all the other batters had finished their practice session. Most of the bowlers were tired and in the end these two talented batsmen practiced against the second string net bowlers and not against the front line bowlers.

It’s a daily scene. The Tigers’ coach Jammie Siddeons has no space for the back up players. According to Siddeons Ashraful and Nafees are back up players and they will only get a chance if either any of the front line batters don’t perform according to Siddeons’ expectations. Nafees can play if either Junaid or Imrul flops or Ash can only seek a place in the team if Raqibul Hasan flops.

I find it pretty injustice towards the most talented players of the Tigers. Nafees deserves a net session against the new ball as he is supposed to bat at the number three position and for which to face the new ball is important. While, Ashraful requires more and more net session to gather more confidence.

Siddeons is planning to play Raqibul at number six position instead of Ashraful. I disagree with this plan of his as the number six position requires a player who has all the shots in the books and can improvise at will. Raqibul is a player who can’t cross his limitations. And Raqibul is no where near Ashraful’s enormous talent.

Players do suffer from a bad patch but for that they deserve support and not ignorance. Siddeons’ approach towards both Ash and Nafees has been rude so far. If the back up players are not trained properly then how can they cash in when the front line players under performs?

Siddeons is working more and more with the main eleven players and leaving the rest of the four players almost unnoticed. Such sort of things hurts the morale of a team and affects the unity.

Lastly, making a battle plan without Ashraful and Nafees will not be a wise act.
