Simply Brilliant. What a way to finish the game. A six from the Captain Cool MSD. There wouldn't have been a better occasion than this for MSD. Leading from the front and playing a capitain's knock to lift the cup for India. His knock came at a right time when it mattered the most for team India. Full marks to him,his team and of course the mentor, Gary Kirsten. Unfortunate for India, Gary is not gonna with them any more. But this will be a memorable moment for team India and Gary as well.

Right from the quarterfinal match against Australia, there has been a tremendous change in the body language of each member of team India. It was a rejuvinated side. The most remarkable change was noted in their fielding. . The dives and stops which we saw in the final encounter against the Lankans,no one could believe it's the same Indian team who were written off as a good fielding side. Special praise to Yuvi, Raina & Kohli. These 3 players stood as three strong pillars and contributed to a great extent in restricting the Lankans. Learning from these 3, players like Zaheer, Sreesanth too wanted to prove that even they can dive at anything.

In bowling department, apart from Sreesanth, all others did a pretty neat job. Sreesanth been's pretty unlucky. However, I suggest the team should give him more opportunities as he's got the talent in him. He just need to control on his deliveries. He should not always aim at getting wickets, but bowl right to the stumps and wait for the batsmen to make mistake. Zaheer has been simply brilliant throughout the tournament. He has always provided important break throughs for team India. However, the team is heavily relying on him. This is where Sreesanth needs to support him. He can do it if given opportunities and nutured well. Munaf has also improved a lot and can be reckoning at times. Nehra was unfortunate to miss the final clash. Yuvi has been exceptional in the spin bowling. He did cover up for Bhaji who was off colour throughout the tournament. However, Bhaji is always energitic. He will surely make amends for his lean patches and come off good.

A score of 260+ was always a fighting total to defend espeacially with the turn the pitch was generating in the later part of the innings. It was a shocking start for team India. Sehwag out for duck to a beauty from Malinga which kept low. Sachin and Gambhir did try to stop further damage. Sachin was medelling the ball well and it seemed he was heading towards the milestone he wanted to achieve. Right when he was beginning to settle down, he meddled with a outside the offstump delivery and paid the price for it., Sangarkara taking an excellent catch of the bowling of Malinga. It was a pin drop silence in the Wankede stadium. Then came man of the hour, Kohli. Kohli came at a situation where India desperately needed a partnership and he did exactly what was expected of him. He had done it before and did it again. Proving a platform for Gambhir and MSD to rip apart the Lankan attack. I would say, this was the most crucial stage of the Indian innings and a lot of credit shoulg go to Kohli for this. And then came the Commander. Promoted himself to the top of the order, overcame pressure and played a cameo innings to lift the cup for India.

In all, if was a 100% committment from the men in blues whether it be batting, bowling, fielding or Captaincy. Truly, they deserved to be cup holders. A great gift to our cricket maestro, Sachin. A dream come true for him. CHAK DE INDIA
