Indian team's decision to call Ian Bell back after the contentious run-out triggered myriad opinions. Some felt that Bell's dismisal was in the purview of laws of cricket and there was nothing wrong in the decision.

Bell shouldn't have been called out as he was entittled to beong out for him carelessness. While, others asserted that giving Bell out wasn't in sync with the spirit of the game and they expressed happiness over his recall. However, everyone was unanimous in saying that it was magnanimous on Mahendra Singh Dhoni's part to make a brave decision and call back Bell to bat again. Bell was going great guns after completing his century and taking the game away from India. Here is what some of the prominent names have to say about the incident:-

Sir Ian Botham - "It was the right decision by the umpires, they did everything spot-on. Bell had wandered off. He was out and he should have stayed out, in my opinion."

Michael Vaughan "I think the right decision (to reprieve Bell) has been made. If I put myself in the same position as Mahendra Singh Dhoni I would have done the same."

Lawrence Booth - "Ian Bell is a lucky man: that was pure doziness. We could see from the press box that Praveen Kumar had saved a boundary, and there was no evidence to suggest either umpire had called ‘over’ before Abhinav Mukund took the bails off. Would Bell have done the same had it not been the last ball before tea? I doubt it."

Martin Crowe - "Not in a million yrs would the Australians have called Bell back, as Dhoni did. Hats off to MSD."

Harsha Bhogle - i think Dhoni's decision opens up a lot of issues. if a batsman is given caught behind, hasn't nicked it, should the captain call him back?

Sanjay Manjrekar - "Ian bell was being very casual, almost careless, walking off before a definitve call from umpire for boundary or tea & deserved to be out. Sorry.. but dont agree with Dhoni's decision to call bell back..it was not a case of batsman wrongly given out."

Andrew Flintoff - "Dhoni made the correct call, i have played under Dhoni and he is a top bloke. Bell was dopey! Dhoni was classy!

Ronnie Irani - "No problem with fantastic spirit of the game but India have been soft here. Bell should have gone."

Trent Johnston - "Just had the first look at the Bell incident. No way I'd call him back. Why didn't Strauss call back Harbhajan when he given out LBW?"

Lalit Modi - "The stand Indian Team took today in the Ian bell case-was the right thing to do, even thou they did not need too. Kudos to the Indian Team."
