The wall of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid averaged a meager 20.00 in the last Test series against South Africa held in December 2010. This is unlike Dravid, who is considered to be the most dependable batsman of the Indian team in alien conditions.

His poor form could be a worrying factor for the Indian skipper MS Dhoni as his team will be playing in the Test series against West Indies without the services of experienced campaigners like Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag.

Also Dravid last played his last Test match on 2nd January, 2011. Not having played a single Test match in last six months, Dravid will be under pressure to score runs in the absence of heavyweights like Sachin, Sehwag. This Indian team will rely largely on the experience of Dravid and VVS Laxman, who are the back bones of Indian batting to put up good total in West Indies. Moreover as a senior player, he has the added responsibility of grooming young players in the Caribbean.

The motivating factor for Dravid will be that he averages 70 in the Caribbean, with 1260 runs from 14 Tests. Also he averages 55.60 with three half-centuries in three Tests at Sabina Park which is the venue of the first match. Moreover Dravid was the top scorer for India in both the innings last time Indians played there, which helped India in winning the match and the Test series.

If he regains the same form and scores good runs in the upcoming series, it will not only help India win series in the Caribbean but also gain immense confidence for the upcoming series against England, which is the most awaited series of this year.
