Was it necessary to speak in front of the media now? Was it necessary to drag out controversy out of no where? Was it necessary to spoil the party mood of the cricket fans? Was it necessary to invite troubles for a team which had enough over the last 6 months? Such are the questions which are coming to my mind after coming to know about the ex-Pakistan wicket-keeper, Zulqarnain Haider’s latest saga, who has decided to reveal the name of the corrupted Pakistan players before the World Cup.
To me he is Pakistan cricket’s weed like Sarfraz Nawaz, Aamer Sohail and Rashid Latif who were always were up to spoil the Pakistan cricket. If Zulqarnain knows who are the corrupt players then why didn’t he do it when he fled Dubai last year? He should have helped the ICC’s anti-corruption unit a long time before. Why just do it before the World Cup?
One think might come to mind and which is, is he being used as the tool to destroy the morale of the Pakistan cricket team? After so many pangs and aches the men in green looks settle to have a go for the World Cup trophy. And when the Pakistan captain and coach along with the players are focused on the World Cup then such kind of allegations are sure to disturb the focus.
To me men like Zulqarnain Haider are psychologically ill creatures who want to earn money by catching the media attentions never mind even if it is by spoiling the image of his own country. If Zulqarnain was patriot then he would never think of bringing such allegations before the mega event and when his team is shaping up quite nicely for the greatest event of cricket.
Pakistan must find a way to get rid of such weeds of their cricket. But is it possible under the leadership of Ijaz Butt? Will another World Cup for Pakistan face a sorry tale? The fans just don’t want the repetition of 2003 and 2007.
Zulqarnain is a stupid in true sense of terms. Time after time people like him has tarnished the image of Pakistan cricket. Billions of Pakistan cricket’s fans at home and abroad are tired of people such as these.
Pakistan cricket fans wants an end to this.
