Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have lost a low-scoring match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Kolkata as Piyush Chawla grabbed three wickets to guide the visitors to a 2-run win.

Chasing a small total of 135 runs, Kolkata were given an early blow by left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt who dismissed the crucial wicket of Jacques Kallis. KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir looked good as he scored aggressive strokes but was removed by medium-pacer Dimitri Mascarenhas.

Spinner Piyush Chawla later jolted KKR further as he grabbed three wickets.

KXIP had earlier reached the score of 134 runs for the loss of nine wickets against KKR. Gambhir, having won the toss decided to toss the ball to spinners which paid dividends as Sunil Narine stuck in the third over of the innings as he removed dangerous Adam Gilchrist for just five runs. Narine followed up with Shaun Marsh’s dismissal in the fifth over.
