Indian National Selector Amarnath had been refused to enter into Kotla stadium, because he was not carrying a pass. Miffed Amarnath walked away from the stadium. It resulted in delay of the selection committee meeting to announce the Indian team for the remaining one-dayers.
He was later granted entry at around eight in the evening after he acquired his local pass. The selection meeting finally managed to get underway at about an hour later.
Chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth tried to pacify Amarnath who was left fuming after the whole incident.
"It is unfortunate that a person of Amarnath's stature was denied entry but rules are rules. Security norms here can't be flouted. At the end of the day the matter was amicably resolved," a DDCA official said.
