A heartbreaking one run loss against Mumbai Indians on Thursday, Ganguly led Pune Warriors is looking ahead to come back. To remain qualified in the season, Warriors have to win 4 matches from the remaining 5 matches.
With Saturday’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Garden, Ganguly have to face a hard test as Knight Riders are already on the 2nd spot in IPL 5 standings. But Ganguly wouldn’t take any chance to lose the Eden match, or for his supporters, who want Oxford University Press to include the word ‘‘Gangulyan’ in their Kolkata dictionary.
Thousands of supporters of both Ganguly and Pune Warriors team will glued their eyes on Set Max, hoping to watch a winning match against Knight Riders in Kolkata.
Although, Pune team is quite confident that it can handle the fire from Knight Riders, but Pune Skipper feel that it can be a tough fight as they are already under pressure after four consecutive losses against Riders earlier.
Kolkata on the other hand, setting itself in 13 points from 10 matches, have also gone through flattering situation on chasing scores. Though the team has got effective players who can give a tough fight in both bowling and batting department, but the team has got some worry as they have lack of finishers.
Yusuf Pathan, the $2.1 million player has failed miserably to display his long shots. On the other hand, Debabrata Das has bailed out Kolkata twice in this season. Brendon McCullum and Manoj Tiwary too have failed in every match. the only players who had displayed some good innings were skipper Gautham Gambhir and Jacques Kallis who can also play good shot slow track of Eden.
The only department that helps Kolkata in winning the match is the bowling, which not only has dept but also has got varieties. L Balaji, Bret Lee and West Indies mystery spinner Suresh Narine had a good spell throughout the tournament. Pune on the other hand tried all tricks on bowling department but failed to show the magic. With the joining of Michael Clarke, Pune had some hope from his magic spell, but even he couldn’t turn out to be the right effective contributor.
The return of Ashok Dinda from injury will somehow balance the team with improved bowling by Ashish Nehra and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
Well, now it’s up to the team work of Ganguly’s led Warriors in how they would come back on tonight match and raise themselves in the standing points.
