Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting's runout during the 2005 Trent Bridge Test of the Ashes series made an unknown Gary Pratt as a 'Ashes hero' for England.

Ponting was runout for 48, thanks to some sharp effort shown by Pratt, who was in the field as a substitute.

According to The Telegraph, Ponting’s batting partner, Damien Martyn, dabbed a ball from Andrew Flintoff into the off side and called for a sharp single. Ponting was beaten by a direct hit from Gary Pratt, 23, a former England Under-19 batsman who could not get into his county side, Durham.
