Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh on Monday said that he had to plead with his son to get himself treated for his tumour, which has now emerged to be malignant.

Yograj, who had represented India in one Test, said that he was concerned when he saw Yuvraj coughing in Mohali during a match last year.

"I pleaded with Yuvraj many times to get his check-up done when I saw him coughing in a Mohali match."

Yograj told media in Chandigarh.Yuvraj's father said that he did not blame anyone for his son's condition. However, the treatment should have started much earlier.

"We do not blame anyone, but when we knew he had this problem why did we not get him treated then and there? Doctor pleaded with me to send Yuvraj to US for treatment. I do not blame anyone," Yograj said.

The former cricketer said he was thankful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not selecting Yuvraj for the ongoing Australia tour otherwise his condition would have worsened.
