Bravo: 'I think it was a great team effort. One of the best innings I saw both (Pollard and Ramdin) play. We had a shaky start, but it was nice to see two of the top-7 batsmen making it count. Jason Holder finished it off well. It was a slow track and I was pleased with the efforts of our bowlers. They did well but we need to step up in the batting unit (me included). Overall, I am pretty pleased. We want the players to enjoy the cricket. The seniors should express themselves, and we are looking to get back to our best.'
Rahim: 'We were probably 20-25 runs short. The wicket was a bit slow. The batsmen got off to a start but couldn't convert. Anamul batted well but he needed some support. We bowled well in the early part, but lost the plot as the partnership developed. We need to do the basics well and execute our plans if we need to start winning matches.'
Pollard: 'We lost a few early wickets. I was striking the ball well. There was some pressure on us, but Denesh and me batted well. Credit to our bowlers for restricting them to just 217. I want to score on a consistent basis. Hopefully, this is just a start. Disappointed at not finishing off the match. We spoke about it during the team meeting. Looking forward to the next game.'
Kieron Pollard is the MoM for his 89
West Indies go 1-0 ahead. Things looked bleak at 34/5, but Ramdin and Pollard almost took them home during the course of a splendid 145-run stand for the 6th wicket. Pollard (89) was sublime and was well supported by Ramdin (74). Bangladesh envisioned fresh hopes of pulling off an upset win when both fell, but Jason Holder held his nerve to steer the hosts home.
