Chennai Super Kings won by 4 wktsInnings Comparison, Man of the match: S Badrinath
Commentary
That's it as far as the first game is concerned. There is another dead rubber before the day is done. It involves Mumbai taking on Sydney. Do hop over to the other tab to follow that. Hope you enjoyed following this game. Until next time, see ya!
Badri: 'We decided to build a stand as the wicket wasn't coming on. We had a couple of good partnerships which got us through. It wasn't easy to play shots over the top, once we took our time we could play our shots. My role is to stabilise and build an innings when quick wickets go down. Unlucky not to qualify, but life goes on and we will come back stronger next year.'
Badri is the MoM for his measured innings of 47 in 38 balls.
Raina: 'MS told me to enjoy the captaincy, in future you are going to captain. The wicket was holding a bit, it was coming on slower. Disappointing not to qualify, but we can go home and prepare for England. We are the only side from India who have a chance of winning this, unfortunately we didn't qualify.'
Gale: 'I thought we were 15-20 short. When we were fielding, we were sloppy which didn't help. Fair play to Chennai though. It was an English type wicket where the bounce was spongy. The experience of playing in this tournament has been fantastic. Thanks for all the support back home.'
So Chennai have won their last two games while Yorkshire go home without a win. Today it was Badri's turn to anchor the innings with Dhoni providing the flourish at the end. Yorkshire's atrocious fielding helped them as well - Hannon-Dalby and Rafiq the offenders - they gave away 9-10 runs via overthrows. Do stay tuned for the presentation.
