Commentary

Mumbai won by 7 wkts | Lions Vs Mumbai Indians Live Score, Group A, T20 Match 11

That's it from us on this game. Join us back for tomorrow's double-header. Take care! Bye!
Smith: 'I just wanted to spend time in the middle. I knew that I can score if I stay there. Everytime I come here I do well. It is about staying positive and I am happy that it worked well for me today.'
Dwayne Smith is the Man of the Match
Rohit Sharma: 'I have been working hard on my fitness. The wicket was very fresh and we wanted to exploit the conditions. Credit to all the bowlers. They did a fine job and it is not easy to restrict a side like the Lions under 140. The batsmen then played well to chase it down. Johnson bowled really quick and it is good to see him bowl so well. There was some pressure on us to perform here. But we just wanted to enjoy ourselves and we did well.'
Petersen: 'I thought they played well to limit us probably by 20 runs short. But I am pretty happy with the way the boys played today though. After 6 overs we were in a good position, but they bowled well and put us under pressure. It was a sort of a wicket that we were used to back home, but it was just a touch on the slower side.'
Mumbai will be happy with their performance today. After inserting the Lions in, Rohit Sharma's bowlers did a fine job in restricting the opposition to a paltry total on what was a good batting surface. Ojha was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets while the rest chipped in with a wicket each. Alviro Petersen was the top-scorer for the Lions who couldn't accelerate as the innings progressed. Mumbai got off to a sedate start but Dwayne Smith played exceptionally well and alongside Kieron Pollard, the duo carried their bats all the way to ensure a comfortable win for their side. This is their first win over the Lions in the World T20 League and it keeps them alive in this year's competition.
18.4 Sohail Tanvir to Dwayne Smith 1wd
wide, the umpire thought for a while, decided that he wanted to get the game done quickly and signalled a wide even though the slower ball down the leg side brushed the pad on the way to the keeper. Anyway, a comprehensive win for Mumbai
