Commentary

| Vs Live Score, Second semi-final

Whew! It has been an awesome match and I am glad that we have covered a classic. All eyes will be on that all important final on April 2nd. Will India's 28 year wait for another World Cup end on that day or will Sri Lanka win another one after 15 years? We have to wait for two more days now before that day. This is an exhausted Sid V, saying good bye on behalf of my other colleagues Ajith, Srivathsa and Realtime Thiru. Keep on smiling and have a great night.
Tendulkar: I would like to thank everybody in Mohali for the terrific support. The team played brilliantly. The way we bowled and fielded was awesome. Initially, Viru got us off to a flier and we had to take our time and play out the spinners. We kept losing wickets which we did not want. Raina played well in the end. When we started, we thought about 300-310. Going back to Mumbai is a great occasion. We want to focus on the job that is ahead. All the five matches against Pakistan have been memorable.
Sachin Tendulkar is the MoM for his awesome 85.
Dhoni: We got off to a great start. But, as the game progressed, scoring became hard and we had to consolidate. We decided to go for a par score and 260 was a very good score. The pitch was offering some turn and we read the wicket wrongly. We went in with three seamers and this is one game where I am glad that I did not have to use any extra bowlers. Bowling slowly and on a length is Munaf's strength and Ashish is a rhythm bowler. It is a dream to be in the final. We did not have easy games throughout the tournament and nothing comes easy. We have chased some few decent totals and everybody has been tested. We are ready for the finals but we have to be careful.
Afridi: Firstly, I would like to congratulate India on such a great victory and I wish them all the best for the final. The guys played well and I am glad to be the captain of such a team. Riaz bowled well. When we got Sehwag, we decided to put some pressure. We missed some opportunities in the middle and they played well. We did not build a partnership and we played some irresponsible shots. We tried to play two or three overs and we decided to take the Batting PP after that. I would like to say sorry to my nation that we fell short.
There was a lot of hype and build-up prior to this game and it has lived upto it. Pakistan's fielding has once again proven to be their undoing while the Indians kept their nerve. One more golden page is added in the glorious chapter of India vs Pakistan rivalries.
Some more Insights: Everybody was saying that this was the final before the final. Sydney, Bangalore, Manchester, Centurion and now Mohali, it is India 5- Pakistan 0. Pakistan continue to be haunted by India and that will be bring a lot of cheer to the 1.2 billion Indians. A word also for Shoaib Akhtar, who has decided to bid good bye from International cricket after the World Cup. He did not get a chance today, and he now exits on a sorry note. However, better times lie ahead for Pakistan and it has been a very spirited performance. The Mohali crowd have been absolutely awesome and credit goes to them for giving this match a wonderful atmosphere.
Harbhajan: Happy with how things panned out today. I thank God, the almighty for making the dream come true. This was like a final, the pressure was double, not just for our team but also for the Pakistani team. We bowled and fielded well, I guess we deserved this win. Mumbai is my second home, I play for the Mumbai Indians, and it would be really good to go and play the final over there.
Post match celebrations: Hand shakes all around, Sachin Tendulkar looks mighty happy, his expressions speak a thousand words. His dream of winning a World Cup final is at sighting distance now, that would be a fitting tribute to a man who has given it all to the game of cricket. The VIPs in the crowd - Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priety Zinta, Neeta Ambani - all stand up in joy, yes folks, it's not a dream, India are through to the World Cup final.
Misbah-ul-Haq and his strange connection with India in World Cups: The massive expectations and the hype placed on this game has not disappointed the millions of fans in both countries. India have held their nerve to go through to their second World Cup final since 2003. The Pakistani openers started off confidently, but once Kamran fell, the Indians built up the pressure. Hafeez threw it away, with a rank bad shot and then Misbah came in to play one of the strangest ODI innings of all time - he perhaps forgot that it was an ODI and played a test like innings. That placed enormous pressure on the others and though he opened out at the end, it was too little, too late.

out Caught by Kohli!! India have reached the final of the 2011 World Cup, they will now face Sri Lanka at Mumbai on the 2nd of April. Misbah-ul-Haq goes for the big hit, a length ball, he decided to send it out of the park, gets more elevation than distance, lands in the safe hands of Virat Kohli at long on, Pakistan have lost by 29 runs, Afridi has a sorry look on his face. Can't help but feel for him. Misbah-ul-Haq c Kohli b Zaheer 56(76) [4s-5 6s-1]
