Delhi Daredevils vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 14th T20 Match IPL 2013

Commentary

Hyderabad won by 3 wkts | Delhi Daredevils Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Live Score, 14th Match

That's all we have for you today. Do join us for the double header tomorrow. Bye bye!
Mishra: 'Bit of pressure towards the end but I've improved my batting. I'm trying my best and working hard on my batting. I've played a lot of cricket here, the pitch is good for batting. A team win is more important than personal performance for me.'
Amit Mishra is the Man of the Match
Sangakkara: 'Very proud to lead this side. A hard fought win for us today. Well done to the team but we should have probably finished earlier. We didn't have a great start and slowed down in the middle as well. Credit to Reddy, Mishra and Steyn for taking us through. We are a side that prides ourselves on teamwork. It could just be a catch, or one run or one wicket but it's all about teamwork for us. We've lost a few players to injury but the local Indian lads have been outstanding. White, Perera and Steyn have been outstanding in parts as well. '
Mahela: 'Not really worried. It didn't go our way today but it's early days. We have to improve as the tournament progresses. The bowling was pretty good. I don't think we assessed the pitch that well. We were thinking of 160-170 but this was a 140 kind of a track. If we had assessed the pitch properly, our shot selection would have been better. Nadeem had a very good season with us last year. Happy for Jadhav as well, we've been trying different combinations this year, hopefully it clicks out. Delhi fans have always been supportive. Have faith on us and we'll deliver, it will be great if we can turn it around.'
'Lowest totals are always the toughest to chase' said Brett Lee on his twitter page at the half way mark. Hyderabad proved him right. They huffed and puffed through their way but just about managed to cross the line. Delhi's bowlers - Morkel, Nadeem and Botha in particular - kept it tight and struck at regular intervals as Hyderabad struggled for momentum. None of the top order batsmen converted their starts and in the end, it required a rear-guard effort from Amit Mishra to get them past the line. They'll take the win though, while Delhi will rue their batting failure.
White: 'Very happy. Great job by Mishra and Dale, but a pretty ordinary batting performance. I just missed it (talking about his dismissal). We'll take the win. We didn't bat too well but we bowled and fielded superbly. Hopefully we can continue this way.'
End of over 20, runs (2 4 4 )
HYD: 115/7
Dale Steyn - 9(5) This over: 10 runs
Amit Mishra - 16(14) This over: 0 runs
Irfan Pathan
(3.2 - 0 - 19 - 1)
19.2 Irfan Pathan to Dale Steyn 4
FOUR, that seals the deal! What a cracking shot from Steyn to end the game! Slower off cutter just outside off, lands short of a length but Steyn stays back and cracks it hard with a flat bat down the ground, long on and long off converge and dive but the ball wins the race. Celebrations in the Hyderabad camp, disappointment for the hosts - they have lost 4 in a row.
19.1 Irfan Pathan to Dale Steyn 2
2 runs, full and outside off, Steyn throws his bat at it and slices it to sweeper cover for a couple. 4 off 5 now!
Last over - 6 runs. Irfan Pathan will bowl this one, Steyn to face. Pressure, pressure everywhere. Fine leg inside the ring.
End of over 19, runs (4 1 . 1 . . )
HYD: 109/7
Amit Mishra - 16(14) This over: 5 runs
Dale Steyn - 3(3) This over: 1 runs
Umesh Yadav
(3.0 - 0 - 32 - 0)
18.6 Umesh Yadav to Amit Mishra 0
no run, no he can't get a wicket but he'll bowl a dot ball and keep Mishra off strike. Short and skiddy outside off, Mishra looks to cut and misses
6 from 7. Umesh can make up for that first delivery with a wicket now. Will he?
18.5 Umesh Yadav to Amit Mishra 0
no run, short ball again, Mishra tries an upper-cut but misses it
18.4 Umesh Yadav to Dale Steyn 1
1 run, slower delivery, Steyn didn't pick it but gets an edge to third man for a single
18.3 Umesh Yadav to Dale Steyn 0
no run, fuller length and outside off, Steyn drives it to short extra cover where Mahela makes a diving stop
