Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab, 18th T20 Match IPL 2013

Commentary

Rajasthan won by 6 wkts | Rajasthan Royals Vs Kings XI Punjab Live Score, 18th Match

That's it from us. Join us tomorrow for the single header - Chennai vs Pune. Bye bye!
Faulkner: 'Very grateful to Rajasthan for the opportunity. Good group of people and very happy to be here. This wicket was a lot different than the one in Pune so have to bowl a lot different. We bowled exceptionally well. The energy on the field was great from all of us'
Faulkner is the Man of the Match
Rahul Dravid: 'Quite nervous at the end but great composure from Samson and Rahane. A bit too close for comfort though. The first 6 overs makes a lot of difference, the bowlers who bowled on top did a terrific. We don't really interfere too much with the groundsmen. We want to prepare good sporting wickets. Every pitch need not be 180+ kind of track, even 140 type games can be close. Rahane did well to stay till the end and take us home along with Samson. Long way to go still. We're happy with the start but we know that there are bigger challenges ahead.'
Adam Gilchrist: 'Batting was a problem. We let 7 deliveries slip at the end of the innings. We've been bowled out twice in a row in 20 overs now. It's not acceptable, myself included. We have to do some damage control. Apart from the first 3-4 overs, we were good with the ball. They fought well with the ball and I can't be critical of their effort.'
Rahane: 'I was struggling initially but I wanted to play till the end and take the team home. The ball was seaming around and they bowled in the right areas. PK and Harris bowled well. This was a must-win game for us, so happy to get a victory'
Rajasthan could have won a lot more comfortably but they got over the line in the end. The way Watson started, it looked like the game would get over within 15 overs but Punjab kept fighting with wickets. Rahane batted through the innings and made a slow 34 and Samson played a very vital hand towards the end to ensure that Punjab didn't make any miraculous fightback. Punjab will look back and blame their batsmen - 124 was never going to be enough on this track.
End of over 20, runs (2 4 4 )
JAI: 126/4
Sanju Samson - 27(23) This over: 10 runs
Ajinkya Rahane - 34(42) This over: 0 runs
Piyush Chawla
(3.2 - 0 - 22 - 1)
19.2 Piyush Chawla to Sanju Samson 4
FOUR, what a way to score the winning runs! Backs away and slaps a flat delivery over extra cover and wide of long off. A superb knock from Samson - he has had a great match, with the gloves and with the bat
19.1 Piyush Chawla to Sanju Samson 2
2 runs, a couple to start, so that should ease nerves. Tossed up delivery and Samson slices it over cover and comes back for 2, a better throw from the deep would have made it closer
Piyush Chawla [3.0-0-16-1] is back into the attack
5 off 6. A wicket in the first ball will make it interesting. Rajasthan hold the advantage still, obviously.
End of over 19, runs (. . . 1 . . )
JAI: 120/4
Ajinkya Rahane - 34(42) This over: 0 runs
Sanju Samson - 21(21) This over: 1 runs
Ryan Harris
(4.0 - 0 - 30 - 0)
18.6 Ryan Harris to Ajinkya Rahane 0
no run, slog and a miss! Rahane comes down the track and heaves across but misses. Now, that was a superb over from Ryan Harris. 5 from 6 and suddenly it looks a lot closer
18.5 Ryan Harris to Ajinkya Rahane 0
no run, back of a length delivery on the off, Rahane goes on the backfoot and punches it back to the bowler
18.4 Ryan Harris to Sanju Samson 1
1 run, in the slot on the middle and leg, Samson slaps it down to long on for a single
18.3 Ryan Harris to Sanju Samson 0
no run, very full and on the off, Samson squeezes it to point
