Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians, 2nd T20 Match IPL 2013

Commentary

Bangalore won by 2 runs | Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Mumbai Indians Live Score, 2nd Match

That is all from us here. Join us for the match between Hyderabad and Pune tomorrow. Bye Bye!
Presentation Ceremony:
Gayle: 'I was really hitting the ball well when I was not running. I am fine and I should be fit for the next game. I might change my mode of play for the next game. I needed to stay there and I am happy that I managed to hang in there. I utilized the conditions well and there was some pressure. The partnership with Christian was crucial and the bowlers backed up the good work. I am probably the best off-spinner in the team (In a joking manner).'
Chris Gayle is the MoM for his unbeaten knock of 92.
Virat Kohli: 'It was an emotional match. Gayle batted beautifully. The wicket had a lot to offer for the bowlers and dew played a big factor. I commit myself 100% and the way how they fielded was wonderful. We have bowlers in the side who can deliver a win for the team. Unadkat and Vinay Kumar bowled a good spell at the end. Gayle is our impact player.'
Ricky Ponting: 'We did a good job with the ball but we should have chased this target down. We did not get going at the start and it was a topsy turvy game. We have got to analyze our game a bit and work out the flaws for the coming games. It has been some time since I captained a side and I am getting into the groove. Full credit goes to the Bangalore boys. Bumrah has an unusual action and he did not let the team down.'
Vinay Kumar: 'I was always thinking about bowling the yorker to Pollard. Lots of things were going on in my mind but I managed to get the yorker right. Our plan was not to bowl length to Pollard. Three years back, I would have probably bowled length but in my sixth year, I am mature enough to bowl the yorker. It was a wonderful team effort and I was under pressure.'
Phew! Only the second match in this year's Indian T20 League and we have a thriller. Ponting and Tendulkar got Mumbai off to a slow start. The team struggled to get going in the middle overs as the asking rate mounted. However, Christian gave away 24 runs in the 17th over as Dinesh Karthik scored a wonderful fifty. Vinay Kumar bowled the crucial last over as he snapped up two quick wickets. He held his nerve as Pollard managed just five runs in two balls and Bangalore achieved victory by two runs. Bangalore have finally got the monkey off their back. They have achieved victory for the first time over Mumbai at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

19.5 Vinay Kumar to Kieron Pollard 4
