Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 34th T20 Match IPL 2013

Commentary

Chennai won by 5 wkts | Chennai Super Kings Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Live Score, 34th Match

That is all from us here. Join us for the match between Kolkata and Punjab from Kolkata tomorrow. Bye Bye!
MS Dhoni: 'We started off well with the ball but in the death overs, we conceded too many runs. The bowlers did not perform well. Hussey started off but we lost wickets at regular intervals. They had two leg-spinners who were bowling very well. As the match progressed, the pitch became slower. One of the established batsman had to stay there till the end. It is difficult to judge how many is too many. We cannot have a fixed game-plan like a Duckworth/Lewis. I was more than certain that I edged it and I told the umpire to. If I am 100% certain that I edged it, I tell the umpire and the opposition. The performances have been good but we have to improve our death bowling. Not one bowler has bowled yorkers and it will be a critical factor as the tournament progresses. We have been consistent in the fielding department.'
MS Dhoni is the MoM for his match-winning unbeaten 67 off 37 balls.
Cameron White: 'It was a good target in the end. We batted exceptionally well in the last five overs after getting off poorly at the start. The loss is disappointing as we were in a good position. We were poor in some areas but we have a young side that is improving. We have to learn from our mistakes and perform well in the remaining games.'
Michael Hussey played a wonderful knock and got Chennai off to a great start. However, Amit Mishra (4-0-26-3) pulled things back by taking wickets at regular intervals. Karan Sharma bowled an excellent spell of 4-1-8-0 as the pressure mounted. The turning point of the match was when Mishra dropped Dhoni on 0 off Steyn. The Chennai skipper made his opponents pay dearly and he blasted a brutal 67 to get Chennai over the line.
Stephen Fleming: 'We did a few things pretty badly but we luckily had MS Dhoni who finished the game. Some great hitting from him helped us win. We should have restricted Hyderabad to 130 but they scored plenty of runs in the last five overs. We lost wickets at crucial intervals but the key was the Dhoni cameo. We would like to improve in some areas but I am happy that we are in the top half of the table at the start of the tournament.'
Life has come full circle for Ashish Reddy. He was on top of the world when he stroked a wonderful cameo to boost Hyderabad to a good total. However, he bowled a final over under pressure and wilted. Chennai have secured an important win here and Hyderabad will be gutted.
19.3 Ashish Reddy to MS Dhoni 5wd
FOUR, Chennai win, good length delivery outside off, Dhoni sizes it up and blasts it hard to long on, the fielder dives to his left but he cannot stop it, what an amazing knock from this champion finisher
Ashish Reddy to Dhoni, FOUR, Hyderabad have blown it here, this slower delivery goes awry for Ashish, he fires it down the leg side as Dhoni looks to help it to fine leg, gets a bit of a bat and de Kock cannot collect it, it goes away to the fine leg fence, the umpire signalled a wide but he changed it as Dhoni pointed out that he had hit it
19.2 Ashish Reddy to MS Dhoni 6
SIX, Dhoni missed the first time, but he does not miss the second time, another back of the hand slower delivery, it is again full and slow outside off but Dhoni watches it and mauls it across the line, he deposits it into the stands at wide long on, 94 meteres was the distance
14 runs off 5 balls
19.1 Ashish Reddy to MS Dhoni 0
no run, another slower delivery from Ashish, it is full and outside off, Dhoni looks to deposit it to the Marina Beach but misses it
150 runs for CHN
14 runs off 6 balls
19.1 Ashish Reddy to MS Dhoni 1wd
wide, not a good start for Ashish, back of the hand slower delivery but it is wide outside off, wide given
150 runs for CHN
Ashish Reddy, right-arm medium, comes into the attack
