White: 'It was not smooth sailing. We fought hard and we held our nerve. We knew that 140 was a defendable target on this wicket. The guys bowled superbly and we fielded well. This was a must-win game for us and credit to the team for keeping calm.'
Dravid: 'We showed some great intensity in the field. On this wicket, we were probably a spinner short. Faulkner was amazing. Credit to Hyderabad for the way they fought back. They have the bowlers for this condition and Mishra was fantastic. We have struggled on slow wickets and we have possibly not had the resources. I hope that the wickets are better in the play-offs.'
The top two have been decided thanks to this result. Mumbai and Chennai have finished in the top two and they will play the first qualifier.
On a sluggish pitch, Rahane and Dravid failed to get going. When Dravid was run-out, the pressure mounted. For a period of five overs, Rajasthan hardly got going with Mishra and Karan Sharma bowling well. Watson failed to play aggressively and the rest of the batting order floundered. The Hyderabad bowlers bowled with discipline and this win has kept the fight for the fourth and final spot alive.
Samantray: 'I am very happy to play with the top players in the team. I am extremely happy that my knock helped the team win. We know the wicket well and it was a slow wicket. I planned my innings accordingly. I do not prefer to bat in the lower-middle order but Rajasthan bowled well at the start.'
Thanks to Hyderabad's win, Punjab have now been eliminated. Bangalore's path to the knock-outs has now gotten a bit more harder. They will have to win their last match against Chennai tomorrow and then they have to hope that Hyderabad lose their last match to Kolkata on Sunday as Hyderabad's Net Run-Rate is still pretty poor.
