Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Eliminator T20 Match IPL 2013

Commentary

Rajasthan won by 4 wkts | Rajasthan Royals Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Live Score, Eliminator

Rajasthan now travel to Kolkata where they take on Mumbai for a spot in the finals. Do join us for all the action on the 24th. For now, cheers and bye..
Dravid: 'I am very happy, it has been a pretty diificult week for us, to come back and win like this was fantastic. We did not play well in the middle overs, we have plenty of young batsmen, they have not encountered such situations in their career so far. But we have someone putting their hand up every game, and this time it was Hodge. He is a class player, one of our two big guns. He has not batted a lot this time around, but he is an excellent finisher. Credit to Hyderabad as well, they played really well and were a deserving opponent. We will look to do well against Mumbai. We enjoy playing against the big boys. I have enjoyed playing at the Eden Gardens and am looking forward to it.'
White: 'We did not play to our potential. Full credit to Rajasthan, they played really well. Hodge showed his true class. We played very well to register 10 wins this season, but it is disappointing to go out this way. Thanks to all our supporters, as well as the management. It was a good toss to win, we perhaps started hesitantly, and fell 15-20 runs short. We will come back with what ever team we have next season and fight hard once again. This was a pretty young team and they did well as a unit.'
Hodge: 'It was nice, I needed to get a few shots off the middle. Luckily for me, I started well. We lost our way in the middle, but it was nice to pull it back. I was hitting the ball well, it has been a frustrating week for us, it was nice to dust it off and enjoy playing cricket. It was just a funny moment (my celebrations). I have seen him over for the last two months, and I have children as well. It was nice to enjoy the moment.'
Hodge is the MoM
A word of consolation for Hyderabad. As debutants, they put up a superb show all the way through despite their batting failing a number of times. They probably had the best bowling line-up around, one that almost took them through today as well if not for Hodge. Sammy has been the charismatic figure in this team, and sadly for him, he ends up as the villian in the piece, having failed to defend 10 runs from the last over. He is down in the dug-out and looks disconsolate.
Hodge and Faulkner celebrate wildly, so does the entire camp. Rahul Dravid is thrilled to bits. Rajasthan become the third team to qualify for the Champions League. Hodge adds more misery to Sammy by mocking his pacifier style of dancing. He has turned this match around completely. Rajasthan started well with Dravid and Watson looking confident. A major collapse in the middle threatened to derail their campaign, but Hodge had other ideas. He smoked the bowling to all parts of the ground, and it was fitting that he hit the winning runs. Rajasthan will now take on Mumbai for a place in the finals.
19.2 Darren Sammy to Brad Hodge 6
SIX, Rajasthan win! Delight in their camp, Hyderabad look stunned! Hodge is the hero of the night. This was full and outside off, Hodge gets forward and tonks it high and wide over long on for a maximum
50 runs for Brad Hodge
19.1 Darren Sammy to Brad Hodge 6
SIX, Is this the winning blow? Poor poor ball from Sammy, drags this one short and outside off, Hodge rocks back and pulls it high and over square leg for a six
Darren Sammy [3.0-0-15-2] is back into the attack
10 needed from the final over. Who will bowl? Sammy? Karan Sharma? Ishant Sharma? It will be Sammy
End of over 19, 5 runs (2 . . 2 . 1 )
JAI: 123/6
Brad Hodge - 42(27) This over: 5 runs
James Faulkner - 11(11) This over: 0 runs
Thisara Perera
(3.0 - 0 - 14 - 0)
18.6 Thisara Perera to Brad Hodge 1
1 run, excellent over from Perera, just 5 runs from the over, low full toss, Hodge drives it to extra cover where White tidies up
18.5 Thisara Perera to Brad Hodge 0
no run, this is turning out to be a good over from Perera, full and outside off, Hodge mistimes his drive back to the bowler
18.4 Thisara Perera to Brad Hodge 2
2 runs, White saves a couple for his team, this was full and outside off, Hodge makes room and drills it to the left of extra cover. White tumbles and makes a partial stop, saves a couple
18.3 Thisara Perera to Brad Hodge 0
no run, well bowled! This was full and outside off, Hodge goes for a big swing over mid-wicket and misses
