Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 24th T20 Match, IPL 2014

Commentary

Bangalore won by 4 wkts | Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Live Score, 24th T20 Match

Well, on this fantastic note, it's time for us say goodbye but there is a double-header coming your way tomorrow and we are looking forward to your company again. Adios!
de Villiers: 'Today was just one of those days for me when things just go your way. It's just like a Tennis match between me and Dale. He won the first set and I won the second set. I would have loved to have another set against him but unfortunately he was bowled out. I thought he bowled exceptionally well in the first over, the second over just went my way. We've got a wonderful bunch of guys, we've got a great team spirit. I was just trying to keep my partner calm. The crowd was unbelievable! I love playing in the Garden City, very friendly people and I am fortunate to have played in front of this crowd for 6 odd years.'
AB de Villiers is the Man of the Match
Kohli: 'He's the best player in the world by far, AB de Villiers. He's shown it every now and then and it's a pleasure to watch him play. Today was one of the days where we needed someone to put his hand up and perform and that's the best knock in a T20 game I've ever seen. Chris got a start but the way AB played he totally took the game away from the opposition. We just need to stay in the zone, maintain our composure, maintain our cool and we got the right result for us.'
Dhawan: 'I think we tried our best. You cannot help it when somebody plays a beautiful knock. We had our chances. The wicket did not play the way it usually plays. We were 10-15 runs short. We started off well as a bowling unit. AB was amazing. Karn Sharma bowled nicely, he got two left-handers out but he missed a half-chance of AB and that proved costly.'
Though Rossouw and Yuvraj perished quickly, AB kept playing his shots and some went a long way into the stands as well. His strike rate was always over 175-180 once he crossed 10 or so and Hyderabad, despite trying a lot of things, couldn't do anything. Bhuvi again made the match interesting in the 18th over with three consecutive dots but ABdV took a liking to Steyn in the penultimate over and stole 24 runs to run away with the match. Fittingly, he hit the winning runs to delight the capacity crowd that turned up today at the Garden City!
Phew! What a match and what an effort! Yuvraj, Kohli and Gayle hug their hero! In a target of 156, if someone scores 89 of them, you got to admire that man! When Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Parthiv and Kohli in his first over, things weren't looking good for the home side but Gayle played his shots to up the ante. Dhawan brought in Karn Sharma and he turned the match again by accounting for Gayle! In came AB de Villiers! He struggled against the leg-spinner for the first two deliveries but when Ishant came on to bowl the next over, life was easy for him and since then he didn't look back.
19.5 Irfan Pathan to AB de Villiers 4
FOUR, thank you ABdV for entertaining us! The Bangalore dug-out rushes to the field to lift their man. Steyn hugs de Villiers and congratulates him. Low full toss on the off stump, de Villiers keeps his cool and smashes it through mid-wicket to the fence
19.4 Irfan Pathan to Harshal Patel 1
1 run, full delivery outside off stump, Harshal Patel inside-edges the slog to square leg and de Villiers gets to the striker's end
19.3 Irfan Pathan to Harshal Patel 0
no run, short of length delivery from Pathan, Harshal Patel advances and slogs but misses, he slips while trying to get back to the crease and just manages to get his bat inside the line with a dive
19.2 Irfan Pathan to AB de Villiers 1
1 run, de Villiers gets right across the stumps and tries to paddle it but misses and it goes off the glove to point
Harshal Patel, right handed bat, comes to the crease
19.1 Irfan Pathan to Mitchell Starc W
out Starc Run Out!! Bangalore wont mind this! Good length delivery on the off stump, Starc hits it hard onto the ground and it goes over the bowler, he goes for a run, mid-on takes aim and fires a drect-hit! Third umpire didn't have much to do as Starc was well short. Starc run out (Finch) 5(8)
Irfan Pathan [2.0-0-19-0] is back into the attack
Run-out check sent upstairs! Starc is walking back. He's a goner!
