Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals, 35th T20 Match, IPL 2014

Commentary

Rajasthan won by 5 wkts | Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Rajasthan Royals Live Score, 35th T20 Match

That ends the double-header for today. Punjab lost their second game of the season, Kolkata made it to the top half of the table and Rajasthan pulled off a stunning win against Bangalore. The action continues tomorrow, it is Hyderabad taking on Mumbai. Join us for that game. Until then, take care and Cya!
Faulkner: 'I am not sure I like bowling on this ground, have been smashed all around the park the last two times I have played here. AB and Yuvraj played two great innings. When you score 190 you almost win all the time, especially in a T20 game. It is nice to come here and win against a good Bangalore team. Smith kept his calm and played some good shots. It was an incredible performance and a team effort.'
Faulkner is the MoM
Watson: 'You have always got to believe with the batsmen we have. The Bangalore batsmen showed that the pitch was good and it was some excellent hitting from Smith and Faulkner. Faulkner was raring to go up the order and today he got the opportunity and grabbed it. To pull off a victory after Yuvraj's effort with both bat and ball was sensational.'
Kohli: 'Well, we were just not able to hit the yorkers at the end. 66 runs off 4 overs, it was great batting from Faulkner and Smith. Even at the second time-out, I told the guys that the game was far from over. I asked them to be on the button. 85 odd runs and 4 wickets, it was great from him (Yuvraj) but we ended up losing. It can happen in T20s. We should have executed better.'
Till the 16th over of the Rajasthan innings it was Bangalore all the way. Yuvraj continued having a superb night as he scalped 4 wickets. The hosts were well on top with 66 runs required off the final 4 overs. However, after that it was the Smith and Faulkner show. The pair added 85-runs for the sixth wicket and hit some meaty blows to take their side to a great win. This was after the youngster, Karun had made a fine fifty. The Bangalore pacers didn't get it right, they gave away 65 runs off the last 21 balls. One or the other department keeps failing for Bangalore and today they hit a new low. With this loss they have to win all their games if they have to qualify for the play-offs whereas Rajasthan cement their hold at the top half of the table. Stay tuned for the presentation....
Kohli has his hands on his knees and looks dejected with his head down. Dravid is thrilled to bits as he pumps his fist. The whole Rajasthan team run out onto the middle and mob the two Aussies. Meanwhile, Faulkner is absolutely ecstatic and he jumps on Smith to celebrate in joy. Smith loses balance and both go down but nothing is stopping them from enjoying the occasion. Both of them see the funny side of it though. Faulkner takes his helmet off and roars like a lion.
18.5 Varun Aaron to James Faulkner 6
SIX, Rajasthan win by 5 wickets, looked like Aaron wanted to go home early, dishes out a full toss on the stumps, he tried a different action but it has let his team down, Faulkner helps it on its way over backward square leg for a maximum. This is some victory for Watson & Co. The capacity crowd is stunned
18.4 Varun Aaron to James Faulkner 4
FOUR, that might just be the match, Aaron misses the yorker, low full toss and outside off, Faulkner drills the drive square of the wicket, the sweeper was square
18.3 Varun Aaron to James Faulkner 2
2 runs, back of a length outside off, Faulkner toe-ends the pull wide of long on, comes back easily for the second
30 runs for James Faulkner
18.2 Varun Aaron to James Faulkner 6
SIX, slower delivery bowled at a length, Faulkner says thank you and heaves it across the line and over the deep mid wicket fence. The look on Kohli's face says it all
18.2 Varun Aaron to Steven Smith 2wd
2 wides, Smith moves across his stumps, misses the full toss down leg, but he scampers across for the single as Parthiv fails to gather the ball on the first attempt
18.1 Varun Aaron to James Faulkner 1
1 run, pitched up outside off, Faulkner drives and picks out sweeper cover
Varun Aaron [2.0-0-20-0] is back into the attack
