Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 42nd T20 Match, IPL 2014

Commentary

Bangalore won by 5 wkts | Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Live Score, 42nd T20 Match

Bangalore stay in the hunt with this victory. Change tabs as Hyderabad host Kolkata in what is expected be a very crucial game for both teams. For now, cheers and bye..
AB de Villiers: 'Probably one of the most difficult pitches I have ever played on. I was a bit surprised to win the MoM award, thought Abu deserved it. Nice to win 2 matches in a row, it was a very difficult wicket to bat on, it never quite came on, and I found playing shots very tough. Luckily, I managed to get a couple away. Thought I messed it up once again (when he got out), but Yuvi and the others took us home.'
AB de Villiers is the MoM
Kohli: 'My nails are gone already. Great win, considering how the pitch played in the second innings. It was a sensible batting display, we did not panic. We backed ourselves even during the last few overs. We had Gayle, AB and Yuvraj in. I was looking to play with the turn, working out singles in the gap. The pitch was getting slower and slower, it was just about batting well. Yuvi told Nechim to just hit and run, but the ball almost went for a six.'
Dhoni: 'I think 138 was enough. We knew the pitch would slow down further. The spinners did maintain the pressure on the batsmen. That's why the game went close. Overall, we played a good game of cricket. Catches win matches, at times you will be at the receiving end. We lost the first game because of dropping a few catches. It may be a home venue but the team that plays well wins. We did not capitalize in the last 4 overs of batting.'
The bowling was outstanding, particularly by Ashwin and Raina, but one felt David Hussey bowled one over too many. This is also Chennai's first loss at Ranchi. They stay at 16 points while Bangalore move fifth with 10 points.
As expected, these two teams produce another cracker on a pitch that was loaded heavily in favour of the spinners. Ashwin was unplayable at times, even Raina enjoyed bowling his offies and there were only two overs of pace in the entire chase. Chris Gayle struggled, but managed to somehow keep calm, Kohli provided the impetus but it was AB who turned the match in Bangalore's favour with a breezy cameo.

out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! This is not over as yet, this was flighted and on the stumps, Rana went for the winning blow over mid-wicket, he struck it well but McCullum leaps and takes the catch at mid-wicket. Sachin Rana c Brendon McCullum b David Hussey 1(2)

19.1 David Hussey to Yuvraj Singh 6
