Sri Lanka vs New Zealand, 5th ODI,

Commentary

No result | Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand Live Score, 5th ODI

That brings to an end a very wet series. Still there are a couple of tests to go in this series, hopefully those matches aren't affected by rain. It has been a pleasure in bringing you the coverage of this series. Until next time, on behalf of Sid P, Sathya and Sriram, this is Srivathsa signing off. And btw, wish everyone a happy Diwali. Good night and sleep tight.
Mahela: 'We just had to scrap our way through the series and that's what we did. We still need to work on a couple of things, but credit to the boys - everyone chipped in. After the T20 series, the boys were down a bit and the senior guys played their part. Looking forward to the test series. It is important to go back to the basics during the test series. In the last three-four months we have discovered a couple of new talents and they have been fast-tracked into the side, it will be interesting to see how they go. I still have four months to go as far as the captaincy is concerned, after that I will have a chat with the selectors and see how it goes.'
Taylor: 'All the three facets of the game we need to work on. Sri Lanka played smart cricket throughout the series and deserved to win 3-0. As a team we are growing and we need to repay the fans' faith - hopefully today is the start. Test Cricket is the ultimate and hopefully the weather will play it's part.'
Watling: 'I'm reasonably happy with my performance, disappointed that we went down 0-3. Look forward to the next series, it was good to gain a bit of experience. I'm going back and will play a couple of first-class games, so another chance to work on my keeping.'
The player of the series is BJ Watling
That's it - the match has been officially called off. A damp way to end one of the most rain affected series of all time - all the games in the series which included a T20I and 5 ODIs had to deal with rain. The series was won 3-0 by Sri Lanka with New Zealand still struggling to come to terms with playing in the sub-continent.
Roshan Abeysinghe with this tweet: 'I am afraid its bad news! A thin drizzle falling on the ground and the covers are back.'
6:55 PM local: More good news - the covers are coming off. Still large puddles of water remain in the outfield. The inspection is scheduled at 8:30 local which is still a fair bit away.
Roshan Abeysinghe with some good news: 'Its good news. After almost 1 1/2 hours heavy rain we have a breather! But there is plenty of water on the covers and outside.'
Roshan Abeysinghe it is with more bad news: 'I am afraid its still raining and no letting up at all. Pools of water on the covers and out side the playing perimeter too.'
More bad news - Innocent Bystander with this tweet: 'Quite bliblical at Hambantota, huge lakes on the covers and very very dark.'
Roshan Abeysinghe tweets: 'Its serious rain and about the heaviest we have seen in Hambantota.'
And this was coming - the rain has closed in and the covers are on now.

out Caught by Watling!! Super catch by the keeper. Tharanga tried to cut that and got a faint edge which was travelling, well pouched by Watling to his right. Southee has a stare at the departing Tharanga. Tharanga c Watling b Southee 60(94) [4s-8]
3 wickets for Tim Southee. Tim Southee is on a roll.
28.2 Tim Southee to Upul Tharanga 4
FOUR, cute cute shot. Tharanga knew that third man was wider, makes room and dabs it down to third man where Milne despite the dive cannot haul it back in
