India vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI, Pakistan in India 2012-13

Commentary

Pakistan won by 85 runs | India Vs Pakistan Live Score, 2nd ODI

That ends our coverage. Pakistan have won the 3 match series 2-0 and will look to end the tour on a high in Delhi. That game is on January 6th. See you then. Bye bye!
Jamshed: 'I just looked to enjoy my batting. I missed the Man of the Match award last time but I'm happy to get it today. I just wanted to play my normal game. Hafeez played a superb knock with me, it made it easier. The pitch was a bit slow and difficult at the start. But once I got set, it was easier to play. I like batting against India, everyone follows these games so it was great to perform.'
Nasir Jamshed is the Man of the Match
Misbah: 'The team really played well. The openers gave us the initiative and the bowlers did a great job as well. The way the wicket was playing, 300 was on the cards. It wasn't going to be easy for a new batsman to walk in and score runs, so our openers did a great job. Our bowling unit is doing a great job, especially Junaid Khan. Irfan has the height and he is using it well. Jamshed is in great form, he is a good player and he is getting matured now. Eden Gardens is a lucky ground for us. I always enjoy playing in Kolkata.'
Dhoni: 'The bowlers brought us back into the game. The spinners bowled well and the fast bowlers also contributed. We lost too many wickets with the bat. We could get 80 or 90 runs in the last 10 overs but we needed wickets in hand. That didn't happen so it was too difficult. If one of the top 3 play with the middle order, it becomes easy. It's not like they're not trying though. We've got the experience in the batting line up but it's about the form. We'll have to adapt to the new rules as well. We're a very good fielding side, we have to bowl well and score runs as well. There was something on the pitch for the fast bowlers and the spinners. Overall, there was plenty for each and everyone (talking about the pitch).'
Plenty of questions to answer for India. Sehwag, Gambhir and the rest of the top order should be feeling the pressure now. The likes of Rahane, Rayudu, Manoj Tiwary and even Pujara are waiting. Surely, the side needs more solidity than anything else. Will anything change? We'll wait and see. The selectors meet on January 6th - the day of the final ODI - to pick the team for the England ODIs. We'll know if these performances, or lack of it, reflect in the selections.
Pakistan are yet to lose an ODI against India in Kolkata. They have played 4 matches here and won all 4. Terrific effort this - 250 was not a great score but they proved once again that a superb bowling unit can do wonders in this format. Junaid Khan was the star once again and Umar Gul chipped in with a couple of top-order wickets as well. Ajmal, Hafeez, and even Shoaib Malik gave them good support as India's batsmen just capitulated. Dhoni made a half century and remained not out, but that was more of a message to the dressing room than anything else. Not sure if the message got delivered though.
End of over 48, 14 runs (4 . . 4 wd 4 1 W )
IND: 174/10
Ishant Sharma - 2(13) This over: 0 runs
MS Dhoni - 56(98) This over: 13 runs
Junaid Khan
(9.3 - 1 - 43 - 3)
47.6 Junaid Khan to Ishant Sharma W
out Bowled!! Ishant doesn't survive this one. India's first home series loss in ODIs since Australia came here in 2009. This is how it happened: a lethal yorker on the off stump, Ishant can't get his bat down in time. Pakistan are overjoyed - they were the better team and deserve the result. Ishant b Junaid Khan 2(12)
3 wickets for Junaid Khan. Junaid Khan is on a roll.
10 wickets down for IND. Out batsman is Ishant Sharma. It is all over for IND.
47.5 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 1
1 run, short of length and on the off, Dhoni jumps and runs it down to short third man
47.4 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 4
FOUR, 4 more and that will be another FIFTY for Mahendra Singh Dhoni in ODIs. His 47th in ODIs, 9th against Pakistan. Flicks it off his pads wide of fine leg for a boundary. No celebrations from Dhoni but Duncan Fletcher stands up and applauds. Hope India's top order can learn some things from their skipper
47.4 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 1wd
wide, a bouncer but it's way too high, an extra run
47.3 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 4
FOUR, that's another boundary, very full and outside off, Dhoni slices it to deep backward point for a boundary
50 runs for MS Dhoni
47.2 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 0
no run
47.2 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 0
no run, slower delivery, Dhoni bends and pushes it to long off
47.1 Junaid Khan to MS Dhoni 4
FOUR, smashed! Another low full toss, Dhoni expects it and picks it on the full, hits it hard between long off and the bowler
