Commentary

South Africa won by an innings and 92 runs | Pakistan Vs South Africa Live Score, 2nd Test

Smith: 'We were outplayed in the first Test. The guys responded well to play some good circket for four days. They have never lost here so it is more satisfying. Hopefully, this win will lets us go from stregth to strength from here on. After the Adelaide Test, there was pressure on Imran and he has wroked hard to comeback to do well. It is a two match series, would have loved to have played another. I am feeling alright, still a bit stiff but looking forward to the ODIs. It is good to come back after the winter and do well.'
de Villiers: 'It is a much better performance in this Test. We still need to improve in some areas. Greame has a good presence at the crease. It was very hot and easy to lose concentration but we did well to get a 300 plus partnership. It is good to play against a good ODI team like Pakistan. We are looking forward to it.'
AB de Villiers is the Man of the Series.
Smith is the Man of the Match
Misbah is Best performer of the Series.
Tahir is the Bowler of the Match for his eight wickets in the match.
Misbah: 'Obviously after winning the toss we should have batted better. Atleast 200 in the first innings would have been nice. The pitch was turning and we needed to bat well. Smith and de Villiers batted well and had a good partnership between them. 400 runs behind was always difficult. Me and Shafiq were batting well before I played a bad shot, who knows what would have happened if I had batted for some more time. Irfan has worked hard with the bowling coach and bowled well throughout the series.'
It is a comprehensive win for South Africa. They level the series 1-1 after losing the first Test in Abu Dhabi. It was a good team performance by them as they bowled first and dismissed Pakistan for a mere 99 in the first innings. They came all guns blazing with the bat and were led by their skipper Smith who made a magnificent 234. He was also involved in a 338 run-stand with de Villiers who played a superb innings of 164. With a lead of 418, Steyn and Philander started off well by getting rid off both the openers within 11 balls.
135.1 Jean-Paul Duminy to Asad Shafiq W
out Stumped!! Duminy has got the centurion. End of a brilliant innings from the youngster. Shafiq gives the charge, Duminy saw him coming and fires it through, he is not able to block it as he was not to the pitch of the ball and de Villiers does the rest to whip the bails off quickly. That is the end of the innings as Babar will not bat because he has six stitches on his right hand. Shafiq st de Villiers b Duminy 130(320) [4s-15 6s-1]
3 wickets for Jean-Paul Duminy. Jean-Paul Duminy is on a roll.
