Pakistan won by 5 wkts | Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 3rd Test

What a riveting climax to this series! Thank you for your warm company. Take care, adios!
Sri Lanka's batting blacked out in the second essay and Pakistan were set a target of 302 in just 59 overs. After the brisk start given by the openers, Azhar Ali and Misbah combined well to fashion a famous victory for Pakistan and with it level the series 1-1. Fittingly, Iceman Misbah sealed the improbable chase. Mathews and his boys were eventually left rueing their ultra-negative ploys.
Batting first, Sri Lanka adhered to attritional cricket to post a formidable 428. The innings was championed by Angelo Mathews and tyro, Dilruwan Perera. In response, the Pakistan openers provided their side the ideal launch pad, courtesy a 114-run stand. Ahmed Shehzad carried on to notch up his maiden ton to limit the deficit to 87.
Misbah: 'We wanted to win it for Pakistan. We were praying before the Test match and wanted to give a good send off to the coach. We really love you and wish you well Dave. Actually, sometimes situation gives you a guideline. We were one down, everybody thought we have to have a go. Everyone was positive. The innings by Ali and Sarfraz guided us. It is surely a great moment. It gives a lot of confidence and will help us in the future.'
Mathews: 'The first 3 and a half days we were brilliant. Then we collapsed in the second innings. Yea of course, they were desperate to win. We actually were holding on (when asked about Sri Lanka playing the waiting game). Unfortunately, the batting was not good in the second innings. We cannot blame the spinners. It's not that they did not bowl well. The batting let us down in the second innings. It was certainly not a wicket to score 214'
Angelo Mathews is the Man of the Series for his aggregate of 412 runs in addition to two scalps with the ball.
Azhar: 'It was a clear message from the team and the captain to play positively and go for the win. I spoke to Younis before going to bat. I was not scoring runs, so he told me to hang in there. It is the most valuable innings I have ever played.'
Azhar Ali is the Man of the Match for his scintillating 103.
Who expected Pakistan to rebound, especially after being 1-0 down? The gentlemen's game never ceases to amaze us. That is the beauty of this sport! Presentation to follow shortly.
It has been a fairytale finish here at Sharjah. Pushed to the wall, Pakistan, led by their uber-cool skipper, scaled down 302 in 59 overs to script their second highest successful run-chase.
Misbah and Shafiq are mobbed by their team-mates. Misbah twirls an imaginary mustache, akin to Shikhar Dhawan's celebration. Was that a message to the outgoing Dav Whatmore? Misbah punches his fists in delight as well. The big, broad grin on his face sums up the satisfaction of a job well done.
57.3 Shaminda Eranga to Misbah-ul-Haq 1
1 run, back of a length delivery outside off, Misbah hangs back and pushes to point, he calls through Shafiq for a swift single. Shafiq, who was running to the danger end slides and is well in. Pakistan win by 5 wickets to square the series!
57.2 Shaminda Eranga to Asad Shafiq 1b
byes, 1 run, slower bouncer outside off, Shafiq sways out of the way, Jayawardene fumbles behind the sticks, the batsmen were awake to the possibility of a single. Scores level now
57.1 Shaminda Eranga to Misbah-ul-Haq 1
1 run, short of length delivery outside off, Misbah pulls it all along the ground behind square on the on-side
3 to win from 2 overs.
