Commentary
So that's it from us for this game, join us back for the 2nd ODI between the two sides on Sunday. Till then take care, good night and good bye!
Charles: I batted well, felt really good today, first hundred at home, especially after the Australian tour it feels really good. We gave a good platform as openers which was very vital for our mammoth total. Looking forward to do the same in the remaining two games.
Johnson Charles is the Man of the Match.
Dwayne Bravo: The openers started off really well, over 330 was fantastic today. Charles, Powell and then later on my brother Darren finished off the innings very well. The bowlers, everybody contributed and that was the key to our success. We practiced hard for a couple of days here and it has paid off, hopefully we will ocntinue the good job.
Brendan Taylor: We were outplayed completely today, they were really professional in their business. Our preparation has been good, were are looking forward to the remaining two ODIs, hopefully we can turn it around. We gave too many boundary balls, the fielding was bad as well. Sunil Narine in a side when you are chasing, that's a tough ask. The top order has to do better in the next game.
So the West Indies take a 1-0 lead in this 3-match series. Zimbabwe were never really in the hunt, their top-order was blown away very quickly and ever since then there was no recovery from them even though malcolm Waller registered his 4th ODI fifty. Sunil Narine bagged three wickets, while Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell bagged two each.
