South Africa’s Test and One-Day International (ODI) skipper AB de Villers is one of those cricketers who enjoy massive following across the cricketing globe. It was evident by his fans’ outcry recently when he was ruled out from the home ODIs and away Tests against Australia due to an elbow surgery, which will keep him out of action for few weeks. Last year, during the India-South Africa series  in India, it was difficult to guage for which side AB was playing, as the support he was getting from Indian fans was overwhelming, and often more than what Virat Kohli got.

Same goes during the Indian Premier League (IPL), where de Villiers plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The love and admiration he gets is unparalleled. Talking about love, the cricketer who is loved around the world, loves his wife Danielle very much. The talismanic batsman apparently dated Danielle close to three years before tying the knot in 2013. In fact, he even proposed to his lady in style at the monument which is considered to be the epitome of love — The Taj Mahal in Agra, India and got married to her just days ahead of the sixth season of IPL.

The happily-married couple has a son Abraham, born in July, 2015. The two look made for each other and madly in love. When de Villiers comes to India for the IPL, Danielle makes it a point to be by his side. Recently, she celebrated her birthday. On this occasion, the maverick batsman wished her through an emotional post on his official Instagram account. De Villiers posted an image of Danielle along with a lovely caption that read: “My wife, you are such a special woman, such a special mother! We are so fortunate to have you in our lifes.. Happy birthday, here’s to many more@danielledevilliers”

The post shows how much the cricketer values his wife. The bond they share is heartening to see. Cricketers spend a majority of their time on the road playing cricket. But they do make the most of it when they get time to spend with their family. AB, who will be away from cricket for next few weeks, will look to spend some quality time with his family.
