The FIFA World Cup 2014 top goal-scorer will be awarded with the Golden Boot. There are 32 teams participating in the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Each country are allowed a squad of 23 players. There are goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards. On most occasions it is the forwards, who get the Golden Boot. The player who eventually wins the Golden Boot will be involved with a team which goes right till the very end of the World Cup.

 

Hat-tricks are rare in FIFA World Cup matches, but scoring them boosts the chances of the player to become top goal-scorer. The likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Neymar, Diego Costa, Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller and Mario Balotelli will be expected to contest for the FIFA World Cup 2014 Golden Boot. Muller won the Golden Boot in the FIFA World Cup 2010 with five goals.

 

The group phase matches of the FIFA World Cup 2014 start on June 12 in Sao Paulo. The last match of the group phase will be played on June 26. The knock-outs begin from June 28. The quarter-finals will begin on July 4 while semi-finals will be played on July 8 and 9. The third-place play-off is on July 12. The final of the FIFA World Cup 2014 will be played on July 13.
