The FIFA World Cup 2014 third place playoff will be played on July 13 according to Indian Standard Time (IST). In the final Argentina will take on the form team of the tournament and European powerhouse, Germany. In the first semi-final, Germany thrashed Brazil 7-1. On the other other hand, Argentina won a close encounter against Netherlands on the basis of penalty shootout. So that meant Brazil and Netherlands now will play for the third place play-off.

 

In the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup, Germany were simply unstoppable. Thomas Muller, scored the first goal during the 11th minute. After that that there were a slew of goals. Miraslov Klose scored the second goal in the 17th minute and with it broke Ronaldo’s record for the  most number of goals in the World Cup history. Toni Kroos himself score two goals and then, Sami Khedira made it 5-0. So, within six minutes four goals were scored.

 

Germany then went onto make it 7-0, before Oscar of Brazil made it 7-1 with a consolation goal right at the end of the match. In the other semi-final between Netherlands and Argentina, it turned into a tight contest, before Argentina won on penalties 4-2.
