The ‘Indomitable Lions’ make their seventh appearance in and is the highest for any African team in the history of the FIFA World Cup. As much as they are known for their verve and athleticism, Cameroon have a chequered history of contributing the game with innovative kits.
The 1990 World Cup was a watershed moment for Cameroon and African football when the Lions, led by their 38-year old talisman Roger Milla shocked the then defending champions Argentina. They went on a dream run and went all the way to the quarter-finals, where England were stretched to the limit before pulling off a last gasp win.
Having won four African Cup of Nations titles, Cameroon are giants of their continent and led by the prolific Samuel Eto’o, they will be embroiled in a tussle to clinch the number two spot after being in the same group as hosts Brazil. Croatia and Mexico are the other teams in their group.
