United State of America (USA) have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2014, making it their 10th showing in football’s main event. USA are giants of North and Central American football and always give a good account of themselves in FIFA World Cups. This is their seventh consecutive appearance in the FIFA World Cup. Their best finish was third place in the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930. In recent history, USA’s eighth place finish in 2002 has been their best.
They are drawn in Group G with Germany, Ghana and Portugal. This is considered one of the toughest groups in the FIFA World Cup 2014 as three-time champions Germany and Portugal led by Cristiano Ronaldo are favourites to make it out of the group. USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann shocked the entire nation when he left out their talisman Landan Donovan. Any progress from the group will be considered as a great achievement.
