The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is catching up globally. Famous personalities around the world have taken the challenge. As part of this challenge, a bucket filled with Ice is tipped over a person’s head. In return, the person can nominate two others to take up the challenge within 24 hours. The challenge has gone viral on social media with many sportspersons too taking the ice bucket challenge.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity that went viral during the summer of 2014. It involves a person getting challenged to get a bucket of ice-cold water poured over his head or donate money for a charitable cause. While the donations in the USA was for the ALS association, the challenges in the United Kingdom were made in the name of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a sister organization of the ALS Association.

Below are the cricketers who have takes the Ice Bucket Challenge. Chris Gayle was the first to take among cricketers. He in return nominated Kevin Pietersen, Darren Bravo and Suleiman Benn. Pietersen too accepted the challenge.

The ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ was caught up by the English cricketers as well as Stuart Broad posted a video on his Twitter account of him getting drenched in the ice-cold water. He soon nominated former England captain Michael Vaughan, team mate Joe Root and Television and Radio presenter Greg James. While Vaughan posted an update of him getting ready for the imminent ice-bath, which included Instagram feeds and tweets, Joe Root had already passed the challenge to cricketers James Anderson, Ryan Sidebottom and former cricketer Neil Fairbrother. England’s former and future stars, Neil Fairbrother and Ben Stokes take up ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Rising England star Ben Stokes took the challenge in his backyard with a little help from his family and nominated Graham Onions, Scott Borthwick and Paul Collingwood to take up the challenge. Stokes, in turn was nominated by England’s former middle-order batsman Neil Fairbrother, who also nominated David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd.   Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are the first Sri Lankan cricketers to take the Ice Bucket Challenge, accepting Sri Lankan fashion icon Otara Gunawardene’s challenge. The video of which has been posted on the Facebook page of Jayawardene, who recently retired from Test cricket. The special thing about their acceptance of the challenge was that they decided not to waste any water and did the act inside an ice bath. While Jayawardene has passed the challenge to team mate and Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews alongside Rahul Dravid and Michael Clarke, Sangakkara has picked Virat Kohli, Dale Steyn and Adam Gilchrist.

 

Dale Steyn is the first South Africa cricketer to take the Ice Bucket Challenge, and he has done so in the most spectacular way so far by taking a video of himself getting a bucket of ice-cold water poured over his head before performing a bungee jump at the Victoria Falls in Zambia. He has now nominated former South African skipper Graeme Smith along with others for the challenge.

 


Shane Warne takes the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’, accepting the nomination of Australian Rules footballer Nick Riewoldt. He posted his feat in a video posted to his Instagram account. He has now challenged former Australia team mate Michael Clarke, Australian Rules fooballer Aaron Hamill and Dimitri Mascarenhas.

 

 

James Anderson has taken up the Ice Bucket Challenge. He has now challenged Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton and Ian Ward, the former England cricketers and current Sky Sports commentators.

 

 

Jonathan Trott, nominated for the Ice Bucket Challenge by  Warwickshire cricketer Jim Troughton, has successfully completed the challenge and has now nominated Ian Westwood, Mark Bawden and Jeetan Patel to drench themselves in ice-cold water.
