Despite losing Permaul to a short delivery from Cottrell, Guyana huff and puff their way to a victory. It is Narine who hits the winning runs off Brathwaite’s bowling. They should have won this game with ease yet Ramdin would be happy with the win. He was certainly the best player on view for Guyana with his knock of 51.
V Permaul c D Hyatt b S Cottrell 15(10)
What is happening as Guyana are losing the plot as they are losing wickets in a heap. Barnwell gets out and Navin Stewart too follows him back to the pavilion. This is just hara-kiri as they don’t need big shots at all. This is unbelievable as Ramdin too gets out as he is cleaned up by Brathwaite! Just hard to fathom. All they need is someone to play with a calm head on his shoulders.
C Barnwell c Hyatt b B Laughlin 5(6), N Stewart c Hyatt b B Laughlin 1(3), D Ramdin b C Brathwaite 51(36)
Is there a twist in the tale as Neesham is out caught by Brathwaite off the bowling of Cottrell.Barnwell though is in good touch as he hits a short and wide one for a boundary. Ramdin too is batting at other end with fluency and that should mean Guyana would still confident of winning this game.
J Neesham c C Brathwaite b S Cottrell 11(14)
Now Hafeez has lost his wicket. He is caught by Thomas off Samuels’ bowling. But with Ramdin batting Guyana seem to be on course to win the game. They need to take his wicket. Neesham too can be dangerous. Ramdin essays a fine boundary off Samuels to finish the 12th over in style.
Hafeez is trying to up the ante for the Guyana team. He shows his intent by essaying a boundary off Athanaze. Ramdin the West Indies”Test skipper is batting at the other end for them. They need more of that as even a score of 136 now looks like a challenging total for them to chase down and win the first game of the tournament.
The left arm fast medium bowler Cottrell has dismissed Simmons. The batsman went nowhere as he tried a wild swipe across the line and saw his stumps being shattered. Cummins who can bowl fast starts with a short ball and a good one. Well how doesn’t Cummins play for the Windies. He is getting ,lift, pace and an awkward angle into Guptill. Well that extra pace does the trick as Gutpill was flustered by short stuff and stayed back only to get a top-edge to Brathwaite.

Marlon Samuels has got out. He goes for a suicidal single and has got out. There wasn’t a single but he went for it and now goes for a long walk back to the pavilion. Hussey Jnr shows his poor by smashing a six and then gets out to Neesham. It is Santokie yet again who shows his prowess in the field by taking a smart catch. Thomas shows his class by going down on one knee and then smashed over backward point for a four. He follows it up with a slog off Santokie over long on for a six. Martin Guptill then one of the better fielders has dropped a catch and Thomas collects another boundary. Cottrell though is run out by Ramdin. Brathwaite tries to play a shot but he too gets out to Neesham caught by Ramdin. Neesham not is on a hat-trick but doesn’t get it! Antigua finish with 136 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. They would have hoped for a bit more though.
M Samuels run out 4(10), D Hussey c K Santokie b J Neesham 10(10), S Cottrell run out 5(4), C Brathwaite c D Ramdin b J Neesham 0(1)
Hyatt and Thomas are out. Thomas was caught by Hafeez off the bowling of Permaul. He has been followed by Hyatt who was run out due to a direct hit by the athletic Santokie. The bowler himself did it. Guyana needed those breakthroughs for sure and now they can hope to restrict the opposition.
D Hyatt run out 36(33), S Thomas c M Hafeez b V Permaul 20(32)
Martin Guptill has made a superb direct hit but Hyatt just about saves himself from getting out. Narine has been introduced and has bowled a tight over. Permaul is bowling middle and leg line here. Their run rate is good and they can get a good score on the board here.
After eight overs Antigua Hawksbills are 60 for one. Hyatt and Thomas are batting for them. Ben Dunk though has got out. Beaton the promising seamer is bowling fro Guyana.Hyatt swipes across the lines for s huge six. Good going from him. The deck is flat and one can expect a good score here.

Hello and welcome to the live updates of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match between Antigua Hawksbills and Guyana Amazon Warriors. This is Bharath Ramaraj and I will take you through the entire game. This is the second season of the cash rich CPL. Antigua have players like Ben Dunk,Marlon Samules, Brathwaite, Shedlon Cottrell, David Hussey and Miguel Cummins. On the other side for Guyana Lendl Simmons, Martin Guptill, Denesh Ramdin, Sunil Narine and company.

This is going to be an interesting game between two strong sides. If Narine can bamboozle the opposition with his variations then Cummins can bowl quick for Antigua. The likes of Samuels, Duck, Guptill and Ramdin can come in handy with the bat in hand. With so many fine strikes of the  ball one can expect good scores on the board and it would be a treat to watch for  the spectators who have come to watch the game.
